A 12-year-old boy was injured after being attacked by a pet Rottweiler in Bengaluru’s Mahadevapura area, prompting police to register a case against the dog’s owner for alleged negligence. The incident, which occurred on June 13, has raised concerns about pet safety and the responsibility of owners in residential neighbourhoods.
According to CCTV footage from the area, the boy was cycling along a residential street when the Rottweiler suddenly ran out of a nearby house. The dog chased the child before biting him on the leg, causing him to fall and sustain injuries. The entire episode was captured on camera, which later helped authorities verify the sequence of events.
The injured child was immediately taken for medical treatment following the attack. While his condition has not been described as critical, he suffered visible injuries that required hospital care. Residents in the locality have since expressed concern over the lack of adequate restraint measures for aggressive pets in densely populated areas.

Police officials have confirmed that a case has been registered against the dog’s owner for allegedly failing to control the animal and ensure public safety. The complaint is based on charges of negligence, with investigators examining whether proper precautions were taken to prevent the dog from escaping the premises.
Authorities are currently conducting further inquiries into the incident, including reviewing CCTV evidence and statements from witnesses. The case has also reignited discussions around stricter enforcement of pet ownership guidelines, especially for large and potentially aggressive breeds in urban residential zones.
