An Air India Express flight (IX 1028) from Delhi to Indore, carrying 161 passengers, encountered an engine issue during its descent on Friday, leading the pilot to issue a 'PAN-PAN' call for a non-life-threatening emergency. The aircraft landed safely at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport at 9:55 am, 20 minutes behind its scheduled 9:35 am arrival, with no harm to passengers or crew.
The issue, identified as a suspected oil filter problem mid-flight, prompted immediate action from the crew. Airport Director Vipinkant Seth confirmed that all necessary precautions were taken, including fire and medical arrangements as per standard operating procedures (SOPs) after the pilot’s 'PAN-PAN' signal to Air Traffic Control (ATC).
An Air India Express spokesperson stated, "Following a suspected oil filter issue during descent, our well-trained pilots adhered to standard procedures, ensuring a safe landing in Indore."
