The Delhi government has postponed the entrance test for its newly launched CM Shri Schools, shifting the examination for Classes 6, 7, and 8 to September 13, 2025, with admit cards available from September 10. Previously set for September 6, the test will be conducted in a bilingual optical mark recognition (OMR) format, assessing Hindi, English, General Awareness, Mental Ability, and Numerical Aptitude over 150 minutes, with additional time for students with special needs. The Directorate of Education (DoE) announced that the final list of selected students will be released on September 10, with admissions concluding by mid-September.
Introduced in the 2025-26 state budget with a Rs 100 crore allocation, CM Shri Schools aim to transform public education in Delhi by offering state-of-the-art infrastructure, including AI-powered libraries, smart classrooms with augmented and virtual reality tools, biometric attendance systems, and robotics labs. Modeled after the Centre’s PM Shri Schools and aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, these institutions will operate on solar energy and adopt zero-waste practices.
The curriculum, based on NEP 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework 2023, emphasizes experiential and inquiry-based learning, with affiliation to the Central Board of Secondary Education following the phase-out of the Delhi Board of School Education.
To ensure inclusivity, 50 percent of seats are reserved for students from government and government-aided schools, including those under the DoE, Municipal Corporation of Delhi, New Delhi Municipal Council, Kendriya Vidyalayas, and Navodaya Vidyalayas. Additionally, students from marginalized groups—SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), and children with special needs—will receive a 5 percent relaxation in eligibility criteria.
The initiative reflects the Delhi government’s commitment to modernizing education and fostering equitable access to advanced learning environments.
