Filmmaker Aditya Dhar has issued a strong warning against the circulation of a fake poster from Dhurandhar 2, featuring Ranveer Singh in a controversial depiction. The director clarified that the viral image, which shows the actor smoking while wearing a turban, is AI-generated and not part of the film’s official material.
The controversy surfaced after objections were raised by Gurjyot Singh, president of the organisation Sikhs in Maharashtra, who filed a complaint at a police station in Mumbai, alleging that the image hurt Sikh sentiments. The complaint argued that the portrayal violated religious principles and disrespected sacred symbols associated with Sikhism.
Responding to the backlash, Aditya Dhar stated that the image was a “deliberate act of misrepresentation” created using artificial intelligence to spread misinformation. He emphasised that the character—played by Ranveer Singh—has not been depicted in such a manner in any official promotional content.

The director also reiterated his respect for the Sikh community, asserting that all portrayals in the film have been handled with “utmost sensitivity, dignity, and responsibility". He urged audiences to rely only on verified content and not fall for manipulated visuals circulating online.
Warning of legal consequences, Dhar said that those responsible for spreading the doctored image would face “firm action". He further appealed to viewers to experience the film as intended rather than forming opinions based on misleading content.
Meanwhile, Dhurandhar 2 continues its strong run at the box office, with Ranveer Singh playing an undercover agent navigating a complex world of crime and terrorism. The film has reportedly crossed the ₹1,000 crore mark globally within a week, underlining its massive commercial success despite the ongoing controversy.
