Comedian Kunal Kamra has revealed that he was approached to participate in the upcoming season of Bigg Boss, the controversial reality show hosted by Salman Khan. But his blunt response to the casting offer has now gone viral.
Kamra shared a screenshot of a conversation with a casting director on Instagram Stories. The message read, “I am handling the casting for this season of Bigg Boss and your name came up as someone they might find interesting. I know it might not have been on your radar, but honestly, it’s such a mad platform to show your real vibe and win over a massive audience. What do you think? Should we talk about it?”
Kamra’s reply? “I would much rather check into a mental hospital…” The comedian paired the post with music from Salman Khan’s film Radhe, in a pointed dig. It remains unclear whether the approach was for Bigg Boss OTT or Bigg Boss 19.
This revelation comes amid a turbulent period for Kamra. He’s currently facing legal trouble over remarks made about Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde during a stand-up set in Mumbai. The comments led to an FIR against him for alleged defamation and promoting public mischief, followed by police summons.
Kamra claims he has received nearly 500 death threats since the controversy, prompting him to leave Mumbai and take refuge in Tamil Nadu. He has since obtained interim protection from arrest from the Madras High Court.
Earlier this week, ticketing platform BookMyShow responded after Kamra accused them of delisting his shows and demanded clarity. In their statement, they claimed “facts have been misrepresented” regarding their role in the matter.
Kamra continues to address both the personal and professional fallout with his trademark defiance and dark humour.
