Nearly three months after the release of the espionage thriller Dhurandhar on December 5, fans of the Ranveer Singh-led film are still dissecting every detail, especially as the sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, prepares for release on March 19. Recently, viewers spotted a humorous goof in a scene from the song Gehra Hua, where Ranveer Singh and Sara Arjun are shown inside a mall in Pakistan—though sharp-eyed fans quickly realized the location is actually Mumbai.
The mall in question is Inorbit Mall in Malad West, Mumbai. Social media users quickly highlighted the discrepancy, joking about the sudden transition “from Karachi straight to Malad in seconds.” One X user remarked that such moments can break immersion, as the familiar local setting clashes with the film’s intended storyline.
Fans also noticed additional details in the scene that contradicted its Pakistani setting. Statues of Nataraja, Ganesha, and Buddha were visible in a shop behind the actors, leading to amused comments online about how these cultural icons appear in a scene supposedly set in Pakistan. A Reddit user humorously questioned how such idols could exist in that context.

Some viewers, however, took a more forgiving view, suggesting that background details are often overlooked during filming as directors focus primarily on characters and acting. Despite these small lapses, the film went to great lengths to authentically recreate various locations.
Production designer Saini S Johray revealed that the Lyari neighbourhood, depicted in the film, was not shot in India but recreated on a massive six-acre set in Bangkok, Thailand, a process that took almost three months to complete. Apart from Thailand, Dhurandhar was also filmed across Ladakh, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, and Amritsar.
The discovery of Mumbai standing in for Pakistan has become a talking point among fans, offering a light-hearted reminder of the challenges in creating cinematic authenticity, even in a film known for its meticulous production design.
