Two alleged gang members linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang were arrested after an exchange of fire with the North East Delhi District Special Staff on Monday morning. The incident occurred in the Usmanpur area, where police had reportedly received information about the movement of the accused. Several rounds were fired during the encounter, according to police.
The arrested men have been identified as Mohammad Kaif and Mohammad Jaseem. Police said both suspects suffered bullet injuries to their left legs during the exchange of fire. They were subsequently taken to a hospital for medical treatment. Their current medical condition was not immediately available.
According to police, the Special Staff team had received information that the two accused were expected to reach their home in Usmanpur and were likely to use a route passing through a forested area. Acting on the information, personnel positioned themselves in the area and waited for the suspects to arrive.

Police alleged that Kaif and Jaseem opened fire at the team as soon as they reached the location. The police personnel retaliated, during which both suspects sustained gunshot injuries to their left legs. Two police officers also came under fire during the encounter, with bullets striking their bulletproof jackets. The officers were not injured.
Police sources said the arrested men are allegedly associated with the Rashid Kevalwala gang, which operates in Northeast Delhi. Investigators further suspect that gang leader Rashid Kevalwala has links with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Police are now examining the alleged association of the two accused with the gang and their involvement in other criminal activities.
Further investigation is underway to establish the criminal backgrounds of Kaif and Jaseem and determine the extent of their alleged links with the gangs. Police are also expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the encounter and gather further evidence as part of the ongoing probe.
