Gujarat Titans have emerged as one of the strongest teams in IPL 2026 after a remarkable turnaround under captain Shubman Gill. Following consecutive defeats at the start of the season, the Titans have now registered five straight victories against teams placed in the top half of the table. Their latest triumph came in dominant fashion with an 82-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium, a result that pushed Gujarat to the top of the points table with 16 points and strengthened their playoff chances.
The victory highlighted Gujarat’s balanced performances with both bat and ball. On a pitch that offered assistance to bowlers, Gujarat managed to post a competitive total of 168 runs despite early setbacks. Sai Sudharsan continued his impressive form with a composed 61 off 44 deliveries, anchoring the innings once again. All-rounder Washington Sundar also played a vital role with a quick half-century that stabilised the middle order and accelerated the scoring during the closing stages of the innings.
Gujarat’s bowling attack then produced a clinical performance to dismantle Hyderabad’s powerful batting lineup featuring players such as Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head. Hyderabad were bowled out for just 86 runs within 15 overs, recording the franchise’s lowest total in IPL history. Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj once again impressed with his disciplined spell, conceding only 11 runs in three overs, including a rare maiden over in T20 cricket.

Former India captain Kris Srikkanth praised Gujarat Titans management and head coach Ashish Nehra for extracting the best performances from players who had previously struggled for consistency elsewhere. Srikkanth particularly highlighted Siraj’s transformation after his inconsistent stint with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, stating that the pacer had become a “deadly bowler” under Gujarat’s setup. He also praised the franchise for backing Sai Sudharsan’s elegant batting style in the T20 format and for successfully promoting Washington Sundar as a batting all-rounder at No. 4.
Siraj has become one of Gujarat’s most dependable bowlers since being acquired ahead of the 2025 season for ₹12.25 crore. The pacer has already taken 13 wickets this season after picking up 16 wickets during his debut campaign with Gujarat last year. His improved economy rate and effectiveness in both powerplay and death overs have added stability to Gujarat’s bowling unit. Meanwhile, Sudharsan has continued his rise as one of the IPL’s most consistent batters, crossing the 500-run mark for a third consecutive season after his Orange Cap-winning campaign in IPL 2025.
Since their introduction into the IPL in 2022, Gujarat Titans have consistently remained among the strongest franchises in the tournament, winning the title in their debut season under Hardik Pandya and qualifying for the playoffs every year since. With eight wins already this season and momentum firmly on their side, the Titans now appear well-positioned to challenge for another IPL championship as the tournament enters its decisive phase.
