A SpiceJet Delhi-Pune flight turned into a prolonged ordeal for passengers after a technical issue affected the aircraft's air-conditioning and ventilation before departure on Tuesday night. Flight SG-105, scheduled to leave Indira Gandhi International Airport's Terminal 1 at 9:45 pm, was initially delayed to 10:30 pm, but passengers later faced several more hours of disruption before the flight finally departed.

Passengers reported that the cabin became increasingly hot after they boarded the aircraft, with some describing conditions as suffocating. Passenger Lehhpal Javalge alleged that around 150 people were onboard and that there was no effective air conditioning or ventilation. Passengers and cabin crew struggled with the rising temperature while the aircraft was being prepared for departure and subsequently moved towards the runway.

According to Javalge, the situation became particularly distressing for children, elderly passengers and a pregnant woman onboard. He alleged that passengers were asked to maintain decorum when they began protesting, while blowers were later switched on by the cabin crew. Passengers claimed the conditions continued to worsen, with some raising concerns about the pregnant woman's health as the delay continued.

The take-off was eventually cancelled following growing protests. Passengers were deboarded and asked to wait before being allowed to board again, while they subsequently spent around two hours waiting and demanded that the aircraft be replaced. Javalge also alleged that medical assistance for the pregnant passenger was delayed and that refreshments were not provided during the prolonged disruption.

A technical team later examined the aircraft and identified the issue, following which an alternate aircraft was arranged, according to SpiceJet. The flight eventually departed for Pune at around 5 am, several hours after its scheduled departure. Videos shared by Javalge on social media showed passengers fanning themselves with menu cards and magazines, while another video showed the pregnant passenger in a wheelchair.

SpiceJet confirmed that Flight SG-105 encountered a last-minute technical issue on August 11, 2026, resulting in the delay. The airline said an alternate aircraft was arranged and the flight subsequently operated to Pune, while expressing regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers. The incident has raised concerns among affected travellers over the handling of passengers during the extended delay and the conditions inside the aircraft.
