A major robbery case in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad took a dramatic turn after police alleged that the daughter of a local brass trader masterminded the crime with the help of her lover. The incident involved the theft of nearly Rs 1.2 crore in cash and jewelry from the residence of trader Mohammad Imran in the Akbar Compound area. According to investigators, the robbery was carried out in the early hours of May 13, just hours after the family returned home from celebrating the birthday of Imran’s youngest daughter.
Police said the six-member family woke up around 3.40 am after hearing suspicious sounds inside the house. When family members stepped out to investigate, they allegedly encountered armed intruders whose faces were covered with scarves. The robbers reportedly held the family at gunpoint before escaping with valuables, including large amounts of cash and jewelry. Authorities were alerted soon after, and an investigation was launched to identify those behind the carefully planned crime.
During the probe, investigators began suspecting an “inside job” after discovering that the home’s digitally secured main gate had been left unlocked on the night of the robbery. Police also found indications that the accused had access to keys used to enter the double-story residence without forced entry. These findings led officers to focus on people close to the family. Subsequent investigation allegedly revealed the involvement of Imran’s daughter, identified as Ariba, who police claim planned the robbery with her partner and other associates.
