A hotel operator in Himachal Pradesh’s Kasol has revealed chilling details about Muskaan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla, the couple accused of murdering Muskaan’s husband, Saurabh Rajput, in Meerut earlier this month.
The duo, after allegedly drugging, stabbing, and dismembering Saurabh on March 4, fled to Himachal Pradesh for a vacation, checking into Hotel Purnima in Kasol on March 10. The hotel staff noted their peculiar behavior, stating they “barely came out of their room” during their six-day stay.
“They stayed in Room 203 and didn’t allow housekeeping for six days,” the operator told local media. “They stepped out only once a day, briefly, which seemed odd.” The couple, both 27, had arrived from Manali in a taxi booked for Rs 54,000, posing as husband and wife.
Sahil provided his ID but initially resisted submitting Muskaan’s, relenting only after pressure. Videos later surfaced of them celebrating Holi and Sahil’s birthday, painting a stark contrast to their reclusive hotel routine.
Police say Muskaan and Sahil meticulously planned Saurabh’s murder, sealing his body in a cement-filled drum before embarking on their getaway. They returned to Meerut on March 17, only to be arrested the next day after Muskaan confessed to her parents.
The hotel operator’s account adds a haunting layer to the case, underscoring the couple’s attempt to evade suspicion while reveling in the aftermath of their grisly crime.
