Sagar Tugnait is steadily building a reputation in both the fitness and entertainment industries, transitioning from a successful powerlifting career to acting roles across Bollywood films and OTT productions. The Delhi-based athlete-turned-actor has emerged as one of the newer faces attempting to balance competitive sports and mainstream entertainment simultaneously.
Coming from a family associated with strength sports, Sagar is the son of Som Tugnait and grew up immersed in competitive fitness culture. He also helped manage Delhi’s Metal Gym in Punjabi Bagh, a fitness centre that has been operational since 2004 and is well known within the city’s bodybuilding and powerlifting community. Over the years, he established himself in the fitness circuit through consistent performances in national and international competitions.
Sagar achieved major success in powerlifting and bodybuilding before shifting focus towards acting. He won the Junior Raw 125 kg category at the World Powerlifting Championship India 2017 and also secured the Bench Press title at the same competition. Earlier, in 2016, he emerged victorious at the Subrata Classic International Benchpress and Deadlift Championships.

His achievements extended into bodybuilding as well, finishing as the second runner-up in the Men’s Classic Physique category at Olympia Amateur India 2021. After building a strong sporting profile, Sagar entered the entertainment industry with a role alongside Ajay Devgn in Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha. The project marked a significant turning point in his career as he transitioned from the gym environment to film sets.
Since then, he has expanded his acting portfolio through appearances in films and streaming projects. His recent work includes roles in Citadel: Honey Bunny alongside Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Rana Daggubati, as well as Rana Naidu. He is also drawing attention for his latest project, Glory, featuring Pulkit Samrat and Jannat Zubair, where his athletic background has contributed to his on-screen persona.
Reflecting on his journey, Sagar said fitness would always remain central to his identity, but acting had opened a new creative avenue for self-expression. He is also expected to appear in Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga 2 in the near future. With growing visibility in mainstream entertainment alongside a decorated sporting background, Sagar Tugnait represents an increasing crossover between India’s fitness culture and film industry.
