Actor Amitabh Bachchan visited Asha Bhosle’s residence to pay his last respects and later expressed his grief in a detailed post on his personal blog. He described the moment as the end of an “era,” reflecting on the singer’s long-standing contribution to Indian music and cinema.
In his tribute, Bachchan wrote: “Sorrow and grief... An entire era... an incredible... a phenomenal, astounding, prodigious presence... lost yesterday... the iconic, legendary Asha Bhosle ji has left us... In immense grief... The body has left us... but her soul shall remain forever with us...” He further described her work as an “encyclopedia of eternal music,” highlighting her enduring artistic legacy.

Asha Bhosle’s long association with Bollywood includes numerous memorable songs featured in films starring Amitabh Bachchan. These include “Pehle pehle pyaar ki” and “Do lafzon ki hai dil ki kahani” from The Great Gambler (1979), “Janu meri jaan” from Shaan (1980), as well as popular tracks such as “Dillagi ne di hawa” from Dostana and “Bachke rehna re baba” from Pukar.
The report further stated that several public figures, including political leaders and celebrities, were expected to attend final rites, with arrangements involving public viewing at her Lower Parel residence and full state honours reportedly being organised. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was also mentioned as likely to attend the funeral proceedings at Shivaji Park.
Asha Bhosle is widely recognised for her decades-long contribution to Indian playback singing, with acclaimed works such as “Dum maro dum,” “Piya tu ab toh aaja,” “Chura liya hai tumne,” “Yeh mera dil,” and “Dil cheez kya hai.” She has received numerous honours, including two National Film Awards, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000, and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008, marking her as one of the most decorated figures in Indian music history.
