Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu has officially withdrawn from all remaining BWF Tour events in 2025 to prioritize full recovery from a lingering foot injury. The 30-year-old Indian shuttler made the announcement on Monday after consultations with her medical team, led by renowned sports orthopaedist Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala. The injury, sustained before the European leg of the tour, has significantly impacted her performance this season.
Sindhu acknowledged the difficulty of the decision but emphasized the need for patience and resilience. “Injuries are an inseparable part of every athlete’s journey,” she said in a statement. Currently under rehabilitation supervised by Dr Wayne Lombard, she is supported by physios Nisha Rawat and Chetna, and coach Irwansyah Adi Pratama. She expressed gratitude for her team and determination to return stronger.
The 2019 world champion has endured a challenging year, marked by early exits in several tournaments. Her best results include quarterfinal finishes at the India Open Super 750, World Championships, and China Masters Super 750. After a disappointing early exit at the Paris Olympics, Sindhu has struggled with form and recurring injuries, with her last title coming at the Syed Modi International Super 300 in December 2024.
