The FIFA World Cup 2026 is set to be staged across 16 venues in three countries — the United States, Canada, and Mexico — making it the largest edition of the tournament in history. The competition, scheduled from June 11 to July 19, 2026, will feature matches in major cities across North America, with stadiums hosting group-stage fixtures, knockout games, and the final.
According to FIFA's tournament schedule, Mexico City's iconic Azteca Stadium will host the opening match of the competition on June 11. The historic venue, which previously hosted World Cup finals in 1970 and 1986, will become the first stadium to stage matches in three different FIFA World Cup tournaments. Other Mexican host cities include Guadalajara and Monterrey, which will also stage multiple group-stage encounters.
The United States will host the majority of the matches, with venues spread across cities such as New York-New Jersey, Los Angeles, Dallas, Miami, Atlanta, Houston, Seattle, Philadelphia, Kansas City, Boston, and the San Francisco Bay Area. Among these, the New York-New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford will stage the World Cup final on July 19, while Dallas and Atlanta will host semifinal matches.

Canada's contribution to the tournament includes venues in Toronto and Vancouver. Both cities are expected to play a key role in welcoming fans from around the world, with Toronto's stadium and BC Place in Vancouver hosting group-stage and knockout matches. The Canadian venues have undergone preparations to meet FIFA's requirements, including temporary seating expansions and pitch modifications.
Several of the stadiums selected for the tournament are already renowned sporting landmarks. Venues such as SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, AT&T Stadium in Dallas, and Hard Rock Stadium in Miami regularly host major NFL events, international sporting competitions, and large-scale entertainment programs. Many stadiums have also introduced transportation and infrastructure plans to accommodate the expected influx of supporters.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup marks the first time the tournament will be jointly hosted by three nations. Organizers expect millions of fans to travel across North America during the competition, which will showcase football's global appeal on an unprecedented scale. With state-of-the-art venues, expanded participation, and a month-long schedule, the tournament is expected to be one of the biggest sporting events ever staged in the region.
