A routine motorcycle expedition turned into a difficult test of endurance for a group of riders from Assam after they encountered flooded roads, landslide-hit stretches and damaged routes during their journey through Nagaland. Continuous heavy rain disrupted travel at several points, covering roads with mud and leaving some sections cracked or partially blocked. Videos recorded during the trip showed the riders moving carefully through hazardous terrain while trying to avoid further risks caused by unstable roads and fast-flowing water.

At one location, the group was forced to stop for several hours after floodwater began sweeping rapidly across the road. The strong current made it unsafe for the riders to continue, prompting them to wait until the water level reduced. Other parts of the route were covered in thick mud, making it difficult for motorcycles to maintain balance. Landslide debris and broken road surfaces further slowed the group and required them to proceed at a cautious pace.

Footage from the journey showed the riders guiding their motorcycles across slippery stretches and helping one another through the most difficult sections. Rather than attempting to cross dangerous areas quickly, the group chose to assess the conditions and move only when the route appeared relatively safe. In several places, they paused to examine damaged roads before continuing, while maintaining distance from unstable edges and flowing water.

The expedition took place amid widespread monsoon-related disruption across parts of the Northeast, where heavy rain has triggered floods, landslides and road damage. Nagaland has reported several incidents of blocked roads and damaged infrastructure, affecting both local travel and movement between districts. Earlier in the month, at least eight people were killed and 12 others were injured in landslides reported at multiple locations in the state’s Mon district.

The severe weather has also affected neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh, where nearly 1.5 lakh people were reported to have been impacted by flooding, overflowing rivers and landslides. The situation prompted Prime Minister Narendra Modi to convene a high-level meeting in New Delhi with Members of Parliament from Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. The meeting reviewed the damage, rescue operations and coordination between the central and state governments.

Following the meeting, the Prime Minister said the Centre would continue working with both state governments to address the challenges created by the floods and landslides. Rescue and restoration work remained underway in affected areas as authorities monitored vulnerable roads and river levels. The riders’ journey highlighted the difficult travel conditions faced across parts of Nagaland during the monsoon and the importance of caution while crossing flood-affected and landslide-prone routes.
