The growing buzz around teenage batting prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has intensified across the cricketing world, with calls for a carefully managed pathway into senior international cricket. Barely a year after his Indian Premier League debut, the 15-year-old has already become one of the most talked-about young talents in the country, prompting discussions on whether he is ready for accelerated exposure at the highest level.
Sooryavanshi has delivered a standout IPL season, amassing nearly 600 runs (583) so far, a performance that has significantly raised expectations around his future in Indian cricket. His consistency and impact at such a young age have led many fans and analysts to suggest that he could soon be considered for higher honours, even as experts caution against rushing his development.
The excitement around his potential has been further fuelled by reports that he is expected to feature for India A as early as next month, when the Tilak Varma-led squad tours Sri Lanka for a tri-series. This opportunity is being viewed as an important step in assessing his readiness for more competitive international exposure, while still keeping his development within a structured framework.

IPL chairman Arun Dhumal has also weighed in on the debate, describing Sooryavanshi as a “special talent” who requires careful nurturing. He stressed that both the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and his franchise must guide him closely, highlighting that success in modern cricket depends not only on technical ability but also on mental strength and temperament.
Dhumal emphasised that structured “handholding” would be crucial to ensure the youngster’s long-term success. He noted that managing expectations, providing proper guidance, and building resilience will be key factors in helping Sooryavanshi sustain his performance levels and eventually represent India at the senior level for many years.
For now, Sooryavanshi remains focused on his immediate responsibilities in the IPL, where his team continues its push toward the final. With knockout matches ahead, including a crucial Eliminator against Sunrisers Hyderabad and a potential Qualifier clash thereafter, his performances could shape both his team’s fate and his rapidly rising reputation in Indian cricket.
