Rajasthan Royals teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continued his remarkable breakthrough season in the Indian Premier League with a destructive 38-ball 93 against Lucknow Super Giants in Jaipur on Tuesday. The 15-year-old batter played a central role in Rajasthan Royals’ chase of 221 and shattered multiple IPL records during another explosive innings in the 2026 season.
Sooryavanshi became the youngest player in IPL history to cross the 500-run mark in a single season, breaking the previous record held by Rishabh Pant. Pant had achieved the milestone at the age of 20 while representing the then-Delhi Daredevils, now known as Delhi Capitals, during the 2018 edition of the tournament.
The Rajasthan Royals batter has also registered the highest strike rate ever recorded in an IPL season among players with at least 500 runs. Sooryavanshi currently boasts a staggering strike rate of 236.3 in IPL 2026. The previous benchmark belonged to Andre Russell, who recorded a strike rate of 204.8 for Kolkata Knight Riders in 2019. Abhishek Sharma is third on the list with 202.0 in 2026, followed by Nicholas Pooran, Travis Head, Glenn Maxwell and Chris Gayle.

During his 93-run knock, Sooryavanshi also became the first Indian batter to smash 50 sixes in a single IPL season. The youngster has now hit 53 sixes in the ongoing edition, placing him second on the all-time list for most sixes in an IPL season. Gayle still holds the record with 59 sixes for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2012.
The all-time leaderboard for most sixes in an IPL season now includes Gayle’s 59 in 2012, followed by Sooryavanshi’s ongoing tally of 53 in 2026 and Russell’s 52 in 2019. Gayle also features with 51 sixes in 2013 and 44 in 2011, while Jos Buttler struck 45 sixes in 2022 and Abhishek Sharma hit 42 in 2024. Sooryavanshi’s extraordinary season has rapidly established him as one of the biggest emerging stars in franchise cricket.
