Gujarat Titans (GT) reignited their IPL campaign with a commanding 38-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday, all but ending SRH’s playoff hopes.
Shubman Gill’s explosive 76 off 38 balls, Jos Buttler’s 64 off 37, and Sai Sudharsan’s brisk 48 off 23 powered GT to 224/6. Prasidh Krishna’s stellar 2/19 in four overs ensured SRH fell short at 186/6, despite Abhishek Sharma’s 74 off 41.
Opting to bat, GT’s openers Gill and Sudharsan blazed 87 runs in 6.5 overs, with Gill smashing a six off Mohammed Shami and Sudharsan hitting four consecutive boundaries. GT amassed 82 in the powerplay, but Zeeshan Ali’s googly dismissed Sudharsan.

Gill, dropped on 66 by Pat Cummins, reached his fifty in 25 balls before a run-out. Buttler’s sixes, including a 4000th IPL run milestone, propelled GT past 200.
SRH’s chase started strongly, with Siraj and Ishant leaking runs, but Rashid Khan’s spectacular catch dismissed Travis Head. Ishan Kishan’s slow 13 off 17 and a soaring run rate above 16 crippled SRH. Abhishek’s fight was in vain as Krishna’s tight bowling sealed GT’s dominance.
A heated moment saw Gill arguing with umpires over a review call, calmed by Abhishek.
GT’s sole concern was Ishant limping off, unable to finish his final over. The win bolsters GT’s playoff chances, while SRH faces an uphill battle to stay alive.
