Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah expressed immense satisfaction after playing a pivotal role in India’s triumph at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, reflecting on the joy of delivering in crucial moments. Speaking in a video released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Bumrah said that taking on challenging responsibilities and making an impact for the team has always been the driving force behind his cricketing journey.
“I always wanted to do a tough job. I’ve played cricket for that. I started cricket for that. When I’m able to make a difference, that gives me so much joy. No better feeling than that,” Bumrah said. He added that coming up through the ranks playing for Gujarat and then winning the World Cup on home soil was particularly special, especially as he was named Player of the Match in the final.
India secured a dominant victory over New Zealand by 96 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium, becoming the first team to win the T20 World Cup at home, the first to win back-to-back titles, and the first to clinch three T20 World Cup crowns overall.

Bumrah delivered a four-wicket haul in the final, earning the Player of the Match accolade, and finished the tournament as joint-highest wicket-taker alongside mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy, with 14 wickets apiece. The right-arm pacer reflected on the disappointment of narrowly missing out on the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in Ahmedabad before finally achieving success this time.
“The last time we just fell short, this time we went over it. Really happy. My son came. He was there last time as well; this time, he was there. My mum came — really special,” Bumrah said, adding that winning back-to-back World Cups was a rare and emotional achievement.
Expressing gratitude, Bumrah concluded, “Really grateful. God is really kind, and I couldn’t be more thankful.” His performance and leadership under pressure were widely praised as a key factor in India’s historic victory on home soil, cementing his reputation as one of the premier fast bowlers in world cricket.
