A lighthearted moment between Virat Kohli and Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh has taken social media by storm after India clinched the ODI series against South Africa. The Punjab Kings (PBKS) posted a video featuring the two stars joking about Kohli missing out on a third consecutive century during the final match. The exchange came shortly after India completed a clinical chase to seal the series 3–0 on Saturday.
India restricted South Africa to 270 runs, with Prasidh Krishna and Kuldeep Yadav dismantling the batting lineup through impressive four-wicket hauls. Despite early resistance from the Proteas, India’s disciplined bowling attack ensured they never fully recovered. Dewald Brevis and Marco Jansen attempted to stabilize the innings, but Kuldeep’s sharp spin and Prasidh’s pace had South Africa bowled out inside 48 overs. The target set the stage perfectly for India’s in-form batting unit.
During the chase, Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma dominated from the start, forging a powerful 155-run partnership. Jaiswal, showcasing tremendous composure, reached his maiden ODI century, while Rohit hammered a fluent 75. Their aggressive opening stand put India firmly in control, easing the pressure on the middle order. Kohli then stepped in to finish off the chase, smashing 65 off just 45 deliveries in his trademark commanding style.

The viral moment surfaced when Arshdeep teased Kohli, telling him that if the target had been a bit higher, his third successive century would have been guaranteed. Arshdeep joked, “Paaji, run kam reh gaye, century aaj pakki thi waise,” causing Kohli to burst into laughter. Kohli quickly fired back with a witty response, saying that had India lost the toss, Arshdeep would have been the one conceding a hundred in the heavy evening dew. Their candid banter gave fans a delightful glimpse into the team’s relaxed dressing-room vibe.
Dew had indeed become a major factor during the match, making the ball difficult to grip for bowlers in the second innings. India’s decision to bowl first proved crucial, as batting became considerably easier under the lights. South Africa’s innings faltered after a promising start, with Quinton de Kock’s explosive 106 and Temba Bavuma’s steady 48 forming their only significant partnership. Once those wickets fell, India’s bowlers tightened their grip on the match.
India wrapped up the chase in just 39.5 overs, marking a dominant finish to the series. Jaiswal’s unbeaten 116, supported by Kohli’s composed knock, ensured that India claimed victory with ease. With the team in excellent form and spirits high, the playful exchange between Kohli and Arshdeep became a perfect cherry on top of a memorable series win—one that fans simply couldn’t stop sharing online.
