Nikeeta Takale, India's sole female competitor in the Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC), is revving up for bigger challenges after a stellar performance at the Sumatera Utara Rally. The 24-year-old Pune-based driver, alongside co-driver Sudhindra BG, clinched three podiums: the APRC RC4 class, APRC Ladies Class, and Sumatera Rally RC4 category, securing her spot in the APRC Finals in Japan from November 6-8.
"This is a dream come true," Takale told PTI. "My ultimate goals are the World Rally Championships (WRC) and the Dakar Rally. Step by step, I'm gaining experience and training with top experts to make it happen." Her recent triumphs build on a burgeoning career that began in 2016, inspired by her uncle, veteran rally driver Sanjay Takale. Though they rarely discussed the sport, his influence was profound.
Takale's journey accelerated in 2021 after dominating an autocross event in Pune, earning her the fastest driver title among amateurs. Representing JK Racing and supported by Vamcy Merla Motorsports, she has amassed over 100 podiums, including nine trophies at the Indian National Auto-Cross 2023.In December 2024, she made history by winning the Malaysia Championship Rally in Malacca, becoming the first Indian woman to claim an international rally title.

Emphasizing technique over raw speed, Takale credits her growth to rigorous training. "Motorsport demands precision—learning tracks, adapting driving styles. I've evolved into a more technical professional," she said. Her family's backing has been crucial: her father ignited her passion, while her husband provides unwavering support despite his aversion to "destroying cars."
Takale's achievements come amid a family legacy of motorsport excellence. Uncle Sanjay Takale recently etched his name in history as the first Indian to complete the 2025 Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia, finishing 18th overall and 10th in his category, receiving a hero's welcome in Pune.He also competed in the 30th Asia Cross Country Rally 2025, driving in Class T1D.
As Takale prepares for Japan, her story inspires a new generation of women in Indian motorsport, proving that with determination and skill, global stages like WRC and Dakar are within reach.
