Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra fiercely condemned the targeted killing of five Al Jazeera journalists in Gaza, labeling it a “cold-blooded murder” and a “heinous crime” by the Israeli state. The journalists, including Anas al-Sharif, were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a tent housing media personnel in Gaza City, according to Al Jazeera.
In a powerful statement on X, Priyanka Gandhi declared, “The immeasurable courage of those who dare to stand for the truth will never be broken by the violence and hatred of the Israeli state.” She praised the journalists for embodying true journalism in a world where media often bows to power and commerce. “These brave souls reminded us of what true journalism is. May they rest in peace,” she added.
The attack, which occurred on Sunday, has drawn widespread condemnation. The United Nations human rights office denounced it as a grave violation of international humanitarian law, highlighting the deliberate targeting of journalists. The incident adds to the growing toll of media workers killed in Gaza, raising alarms about press freedom and safety in conflict zones.
