The fourth edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is set to launch with a glittering opening ceremony, promising a spectacular blend of cricket and entertainment. As defending champions Mumbai Indians prepare to face Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the spotlight is on a high-octane event designed to celebrate women’s cricket and engage fans across the country.
The ceremony is scheduled for Friday, January 9, at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. While the opening match kicks off at 7:30 PM IST, the pre-match cultural extravaganza will begin at 6:30 PM IST, showcasing music, dance, and star power. Fans can watch the ceremony and match live on the Star Sports Network or stream via JioCinema.
A star-studded lineup will headline the celebrations, featuring musical sensation Yo Yo Honey Singh and Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez, whose performance will honor the courage and confidence of women in sports. Adding to the glamour, Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu will also appear on stage, promising a memorable evening for fans.
