Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor Vijay, is quietly building a robust framework for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Since its February 2024 launch, the party has rolled out a new organizational setup, appointing 10 Deputy General Secretaries, 10 Zonal In-Charges, and 5 Organizational Secretaries to cover all 234 constituencies. District Secretaries are due to be named this week, with top performers eyed for higher roles.
TVK is also planning zone-wise booth committee meetings, dividing Tamil Nadu into South, North, Delta (East), and Kongu (West) regions, all overseen by Vijay. The shift from single-role functionaries to multi-tasking leaders aims to streamline operations.
At its General Council meeting on March 28 in Chennai, Vijay positioned TVK as a direct challenger to the DMK, criticizing their dynastic rule and the BJP’s neglect of Tamil Nadu, while promising cleaner governance and women’s safety.
With a 2 crore membership goal set last year and 70,000 booth secretaries already active, TVK is leveraging Vijay’s fanbase—evident in the 3 lakh turnout at his October 2024 Vikravandi rally.
Analysts estimate a 10-15% vote share, potentially rising to 20%, enough to disrupt DMK (37.77%) and AIADMK (33.29%) from 2021. Blending Dravidian and Tamil nationalist tones, TVK is steadily carving its path to 2026—less flash, more focus.
