Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) President and Actor-politician Vijay will campaign in Erode on December 18, with the event scheduled to last for two hours, according to a statement by TVK Executive Committee Chief Coordinator K.A. Sengottaiyan. The campaign will take place near the Vijayamangalam toll plaza, with all arrangements complying with legal and administrative requirements.
Addressing prior concerns, the party clarified that the venue is not owned by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department, and there are no restrictions on using land owned by the Vijayapuri Amman Temple. This ensures that the event fully adheres to regulatory norms, enabling a safe and lawful political gathering.
Sengottaiyan also hinted that other political leaders may join TVK during the Erode campaign, while stressing that decisions regarding alliances will be made solely by Vijay. The senior leader expressed confidence in the party’s leadership and reiterated his satisfaction with his role within TVK.

The decision to limit the campaign duration comes after heightened attention to crowd safety following a recent stampede at a TVK-related event. Party officials have introduced stricter safety protocols and moderated schedules to prevent overcrowding and ensure the wellbeing of attendees.
Since its formation earlier this year, TVK has rapidly expanded its organisational footprint across Tamil Nadu, positioning itself as a people-centric alternative ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. Sengottaiyan’s entry into the party is seen as a major boost, especially in western Tamil Nadu, where his influence is significant.
The Erode campaign is expected to draw substantial public attention, reinforcing TVK’s outreach while demonstrating the party’s commitment to safety and regulatory compliance. Observers note that such measured campaigning could enhance the party’s credibility as it prepares for larger-scale political mobilisation across the state.
