Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday called for strict measures against political interference in government institutions. Speaking at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, he condemned reports of alleged interference by a BJP MLA in a local power project, emphasizing that such meddling undermines institutional autonomy.
Omar Abdullah warned that political involvement in corporations and departments is “unfortunate and worrisome,” urging that decisions must be made without outside pressure or political motivation. He highlighted the need for institutions like the Power Development Corporation to function independently to maintain accountability and efficiency.
During the event, the Chief Minister felicitated beneficiaries of flagship initiatives including Mission YUVA, HADP, and JKCIP, reiterating his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment, livelihood support, and inclusive growth across the region.
