Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao has announced an ambitious plan to visit all districts of Telangana to energize the party’s cadre, aiming to reinvigorate the BRS after a series of electoral setbacks.
The initiative, revealed during a party meeting in Hyderabad on Monday, comes as the BRS seeks to reclaim its footing following its loss in the 2023 Assembly elections and the subsequent defection of key leaders to rival parties.
Rama Rao, popularly known as KTR, emphasized the need to reconnect with grassroots workers and the public. “Our cadre is our strength. While some leaders have left, the people’s trust in BRS remains unshaken,” he said, addressing party loyalists. The tour, expected to begin later this month, will see KTR traverse Telangana’s 33 districts, holding rallies, meeting farmers, and engaging with local leaders to counter the ruling Congress government’s narrative and highlight its alleged failures.
The move follows KTR’s earlier hints at a statewide ‘padayatra’ in November 2024, reflecting a strategy to bolster party morale amid criticism of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s policies. Sources within the BRS suggest the tour will also focus on issues like farmer distress, unfulfilled Congress promises, and governance lapses, with KTR aiming to position the BRS as a formidable opposition ahead of future polls.
As the son of BRS founder K. Chandrasekhar Rao, KTR’s campaign is a critical bid to restore the party’s relevance in Telangana’s shifting political landscape.
