Sparks flew in Karnataka politics on Wednesday as BJP state president B Y Vijayendra blasted the Congress party’s two-day AICC OBC advisory council meeting in Bengaluru, calling it nothing more than a “political gimmick” designed to influence the upcoming Bihar assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters, Vijayendra accused the Congress of using backward communities as a political tool rather than working for their actual upliftment. He alleged that the real agenda of the meeting had little to do with OBC, SC, or ST welfare and everything to do with gaining votes in Bihar.
“This meeting is not about development or social justice,” Vijayendra declared. “It’s about how to win elections in Bihar. If OBCs are still suffering today, Congress — which ruled the country for over 55 years — should be held accountable.”

The BJP leader dismissed the Congress-led event as irrelevant and questioned its timing and location, saying that holding such a meeting in Karnataka just months before Bihar heads to the polls “lacks any real significance.”
“This isn’t about the people,” he added. “It’s an election stunt — plain and simple.”
With political temperatures rising, the Congress’ strategy and timing have come under fire, setting the stage for a heated build-up to the Bihar 2025 elections.
