AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami on Wednesday asserted the stability of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Tamil Nadu, led by his party, and declared that no attempts to sow discord among its partners, including the BJP, would succeed. The Leader of Opposition emphasized that his decisions on the alliance’s leadership and strategy are final.
Palaniswami, addressing reporters in Cuddalore, responded to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent comments about the NDA forming a coalition government in Tamil Nadu if victorious in the 2026 Assembly elections. “Shah said our alliance will form the government. I’ve made it clear—who heads this alliance? It’s my decision,” Palaniswami stated, affirming that AIADMK will lead the NDA and he would be the Chief Minister if the alliance wins.
He dismissed efforts to create rifts within the NDA, calling it a “stable alliance” and accusing the ruling DMK of criticizing the opposition out of fear. Palaniswami pointed out DMK’s past alliance with the BJP, questioning their current labeling of the BJP as “communal” when AIADMK partners with it.

The former Chief Minister also criticized Chief Minister M K Stalin’s ‘Ungaludan Stalin’ outreach program, calling it a “drama” to mislead Tamil Nadu’s people ahead of the 2026 elections. He questioned the DMK’s ability to address public issues in the remaining eight months of their term, given their performance over the past four years.
Palaniswami’s remarks underscore AIADMK’s confidence in its NDA leadership and its strategy to counter the DMK’s narrative as the state gears up for a high-stakes electoral battle.
