Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday launched a broad attack on the Uttar Pradesh government, alleging failures in governance, law and order, healthcare, infrastructure and agriculture. Addressing a Prabuddhjan Sammelan organised to mark the birth anniversary of veteran socialist leader Janeshwar Mishra, the former Chief Minister accused the BJP government of corruption, administrative lapses and eroding public confidence.

Akhilesh Yadav criticised the government over the alleged irregularities involving donations made to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, describing the issue as a matter of serious concern. He alleged that instead of addressing questions surrounding the reported misappropriation of offerings, authorities were seeking receipts from devotees. He said such a practice was not part of Hindu traditions and claimed that lower-level employees were being targeted while accountability at higher levels remained unaddressed.

The SP chief also raised concerns over the condition of farmers in the state, alleging that fertiliser distribution had become inadequate despite government assurances of sufficient supply. He claimed that farmers were being forced to wait in long queues to obtain fertiliser and accused the government of failing to address their concerns. On law and order, Akhilesh said the police should prioritise public safety and alleged that the current administration had failed to strengthen policing mechanisms developed during the previous Samajwadi Party government.

Targeting the healthcare sector, Akhilesh alleged that government hospitals had witnessed a decline in the quality of services, affecting access to treatment for ordinary citizens. He also questioned the quality of major infrastructure projects, including roads in Kanpur and Gorakhpur and the Ganga Expressway, claiming that several projects had begun showing deficiencies despite significant public expenditure.

Claiming that the BJP government had lost the confidence of farmers, youth and various sections of society, Akhilesh said growing public dissatisfaction would be reflected in future elections. He also reiterated the Samajwadi Party's commitment to ensuring representation for all communities and alleged that several social groups had faced injustice under the present administration. Former minister Abhishek Mishra, who attended the event, called for an inquiry into alleged fake encounter cases. Earlier in the day, Akhilesh paid floral tributes to Janeshwar Mishra at Janeshwar Mishra Park in Lucknow, where a large gathering of party workers had assembled to welcome him.
