AIADMK general secretary and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami lambasted Communist leaders for prioritizing loyalty to the ruling DMK over public welfare during his statewide campaign roadshows in Vasudevanallur, Kadayanallur, and Tenkasi on Thursday. He contrasted past Communist leaders, known for championing public causes, with their current counterparts, whom he accused of reacting defensively to AIADMK’s criticism of the DMK rather than addressing people’s grievances.
Palaniswami highlighted the Communists’ silence on issues like the sanitation workers’ protests in Chennai and the DMK government’s policies, such as mandating CIBIL scores for farm loans and failing to curb rising inflation. “The AIADMK has staged 122 protests against DMK’s missteps, but where are the CPI(M)’s agitations?” he questioned, accusing the Left of being passive allies of the ruling party.
During his campaign, Palaniswami visited Puliyangudi’s renowned lemon market on Wednesday, engaging with farmers and traders to address their demands for better support in lemon farming. He pledged to prioritize agricultural improvements and revive the AIADMK’s subsidized two-wheeler scheme for women if the party returns to power in 2026.
The roadshows drew large crowds, with supporters chanting for AIADMK’s return, signaling strong grassroots momentum ahead of the state elections.
