The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led Delhi government, accusing it of prioritizing political vendetta over governance following a vigilance inquiry into alleged irregularities in the Barapullah Phase-3 elevated corridor project. The probe, ordered on July 28 by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during an Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) meeting with Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Verma, will be conducted by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB), targeting the project’s execution under the previous AAP administration.
AAP condemned the BJP’s “four-engine government” for failing to deliver on electoral promises six months into its tenure, alleging it is distracted by “baseless cases” and raids against political rivals. “Jail whoever you want, file as many cases as you like—nothing will come of it, because there’s nothing to find,” AAP stated, calling the investigations a tactic to “delay, deflect, and distract” from real governance. The party highlighted the BJP’s unfulfilled pledge of a ₹2,500 monthly honorarium for Delhi’s women, noting, “Not a single meaningful step has been taken to solve citizens’ problems.”
Chief Minister Gupta accused the AAP of overpaying a contractor ₹55 crore in a legal dispute, ignoring a ₹35 crore settlement offer, which she claimed hampered other PWD schemes. She also flagged potential complicity by PWD officials, whose roles will be scrutinized. AAP dismissed the allegations as a “cover-up” for BJP’s governance failures, urging the government to focus on schools, hospitals, public transport, and delivering promises rather than “witch hunts.”

The Barapullah Phase-3 project, allocated ₹1,260.63 crore in 2014, aims to enhance east-west connectivity by linking Sarai Kale Khan to Nauroji Nagar, easing access to areas like Green Park and Delhi Airport. Delays due to tree-cutting approvals have plagued the project, but Gupta assured timely completion despite the probe. AAP’s broader critique aligns with its post-2025 election strategy to reposition as a strong opposition, focusing on governance issues after losing power due to corruption allegations and a 10% vote share drop.
The feud underscores Delhi’s polarized political landscape, with AAP challenging the BJP to “check every brick” but govern effectively, warning that “the people are watching, and they will hold you accountable.”
