Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of becoming “corrupt” and arrogant after nearly three decades in power in Gujarat, predicting its days in office are numbered. Addressing dairy farmers in Modasa, Aravalli district, Kejriwal alleged that the BJP and Congress are secretly allied, effectively running a coalition government in the state.
Kejriwal claimed BJP leaders controlling dairy cooperatives, like those under the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (Amul), cheat farmers by underpaying for milk fat content, pocketing thousands of rupees. “If your milk has 7.5 per kg fat, they pay only for 7 per kg, robbing cattle rearers,” he said. He criticized the BJP for seizing control of cooperatives meant to be farmer-run and noted that a recent bonus hike by Sabar Dairy followed his visit announcement, prompted by farmers’ protests over meager bonuses.
Drawing parallels with Congress’s ouster after violently suppressing farmers in the 1980s, Kejriwal warned that the BJP’s similar tactics signal its impending downfall. He positioned AAP as a “non-corrupt” alternative ahead of the 2027 Gujarat assembly polls, urging voters to reject the BJP-Congress nexus. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann and state AAP leaders joined Kejriwal at the event, reinforcing the party’s push to challenge BJP’s dominance in Gujarat.
