Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday underscored that every citizen has the right to good healthcare and called for healthcare services to be affordable, reliable, and accessible. Speaking after inaugurating a private hospital in the Sikandra area of Agra, he stressed that the sector should remain a top priority for governments at all levels.
“Every person has the right to good healthcare, and every sovereign nation must ensure such facilities for its citizens,” Adityanath said. He added that India has gained a new global identity under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the past 11 years, positioning the country as the world’s third-largest economy while promoting heritage and development.
Highlighting infrastructure growth, the chief minister noted the expansion of highways, expressways, metro networks, new railway lines, and modern trains such as Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat, and Namo Bharat as evidence of the country’s rapid transformation. He emphasized that coordinated efforts by the government, society, and institutions multiply results and build trust, describing Uttar Pradesh as a symbol of such trust.

Adityanath acknowledged the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare facilities and encouraged private investment to ensure healthy competition and improved services. He outlined plans for a new policy to attract investment in super-speciality hospitals and support the establishment of new medical colleges across the state.
Providing context on past achievements, the chief minister said India had only one All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) initially, which increased to seven during the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government and now stands at 23 under the current administration, with two located in Uttar Pradesh at Gorakhpur and Rae Bareli. He added that the number of medical colleges in the state has risen from 17 before 2017 to 81 today. Around 5.8 crore people in the state have received “golden cards” under government health insurance schemes, with plans to expand coverage to 10 crore.
Adityanath also highlighted developments in medical technology and manufacturing, including centres of excellence at IIT Kanpur and SGPGI Lucknow, a 1,500-acre pharma park in Lalitpur, and a 350-acre medical device park along the Yamuna Expressway. He noted that coordinated government action helped eliminate encephalitis in eastern Uttar Pradesh, a disease that had claimed over 50,000 lives in four decades.
