Senior leaders of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) held a regional coordination meeting in Kanpur on Friday with a focus on strengthening grassroots engagement and addressing concerns among members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The discussions primarily revolved around resolving reported dissatisfaction among party leaders, including legislators and local workers, while encouraging cadres to increase their presence and activity at the ground level ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
According to sources familiar with the meeting, leaders emphasized the importance of reconnecting with grassroots workers and improving communication within the party structure. The gathering, which was part of the RSS’s regional coordination process, sought to ensure that organisational units remain active and responsive to local issues. Strengthening the party’s grassroots network was highlighted as a key priority to maintain electoral momentum in the politically significant state.
The meeting also focused on promoting and publicising the policies and programmes implemented by the Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Participants discussed strategies to highlight welfare initiatives, development projects, and governance achievements in order to strengthen public outreach and build support ahead of the next assembly polls.

The first session of the meeting was attended by Yogi Adityanath himself, signalling the importance attached to the discussions. The Chief Minister’s presence allowed for direct interaction between the government leadership and organisational functionaries. Party leaders and RSS representatives reportedly reviewed the political situation in the state and exchanged views on strengthening coordination between the organisation and the ruling party.
Among those present at the meeting were BJP’s state president Pankaj Chaudhary, along with BJP state general secretary (organisation) Dharampal Singh. Senior RSS functionaries including Anil and Shri Ram also participated in the discussions, reflecting the involvement of key organisational leaders in shaping strategy for the coming years.
The Kanpur meeting is part of a broader series of consultations aimed at preparing the BJP and its organisational network for future electoral contests in Uttar Pradesh, one of India’s most politically crucial states. With the 2027 Assembly elections approaching, the discussions underscored the importance of organisational unity, grassroots mobilisation, and effective communication of government initiatives to voters across the state.
