Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has set a new benchmark in examination administration by announcing the results of its sixth-semester B.E. and B.Tech examinations just five minutes after the conclusion of the final exam. The university declared the results at 5.35 pm on Tuesday, immediately after the examination ended at 5.30 pm, enabling more than 60,000 engineering students to access their scores within minutes.
The results were officially released by Vice-Chancellor Prof. S. Vidyashankar and Registrar (Evaluation) Prof. U.J. Ujwal. According to the university, a total of 60,856 students appeared for the sixth-semester examinations, which recorded an overall pass percentage of 76.84 per cent. VTU also stated that the evaluation process was completed 21 days earlier than in previous years, marking a significant improvement in its examination and assessment system.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. S. Vidyashankar said the university aimed to reduce the waiting period for students, who often anxiously await their examination results. He credited the achievement to careful planning and the coordinated efforts of the university administration, examination section staff and affiliated engineering colleges. The university described the rapid declaration as a milestone in its efforts to modernise academic administration.

Registrar (Evaluation) Prof. U.J. Ujwal said the record-breaking turnaround was made possible through the extensive use of digital evaluation systems and close coordination among all stakeholders involved in conducting and assessing the examinations. He noted that technological advancements have enabled the university to streamline the evaluation process while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
VTU has consistently reduced the time taken to publish examination results over the past few years. Earlier in 2026, the university announced the results of nearly 56,000 final-year engineering students within 10 minutes of the completion of their examinations. In 2025, results for more than 50,000 students were released within an hour, demonstrating the university's continued focus on improving examination timelines.
The university's record shows a steady improvement in result processing over recent years. While sixth-semester results were announced within 10 days for 58,232 students during the 2024-25 academic year, the turnaround time has now been reduced to just five minutes for over 60,000 students. University officials said the achievement reflects VTU's commitment to adopting digital technology and enhancing academic services for engineering students across Karnataka.
