The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, approved around 39 proposals on Friday, covering welfare schemes, public transport, skill development and administrative changes. Key decisions included continuing the provision of two free LPG cylinder refills annually for eligible beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, facilitating 1,725 air-conditioned electric buses, and launching a new skill training and employment initiative. The Cabinet also approved providing additional sarees to Anganwadi workers and helpers and restoring Sant Ravidas’s name to Bhadohi district.
Under the LPG scheme, eligible Ujjwala beneficiaries will receive one free cylinder refill during Diwali and another during Holi in the 2026–27 financial year. The state government has allocated Rs 2,142.78 crore for the initiative. The first refill is scheduled between October and December 2026, while the second will be provided between January and March 2027. Beneficiaries must have Aadhaar-linked bank accounts and complete Aadhaar authentication to qualify for the benefit.
The government will also facilitate the operation of 1,725 air-conditioned electric buses across 18 urban areas, including Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Agra, Ghaziabad, Gorakhpur, Ayodhya and Noida, including Jewar. Private operators will manage the buses under 12-year contracts beginning from the commencement of commercial operations. The initiative is intended to expand access to air-conditioned public transport in cities across Uttar Pradesh.

Another major decision was the approval of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Skill Training and Employment Zone development scheme. The initiative will establish an integrated skill training and employment system across nine zones covering all 75 districts of the state. According to the government, the scheme aims to equip young people with skills suited to industry requirements and connect them with employment opportunities in India and overseas, while positioning Uttar Pradesh as a major source of skilled manpower.
The Cabinet also approved restoring the name Sant Ravidas to Bhadohi district, which will be renamed Sant Ravidas Nagar Bhadohi. The name had been dropped during the previous Samajwadi Party government, when the district was known simply as Bhadohi. The latest decision seeks to restore the association with Sant Ravidas while retaining the district’s historical identity.
In another welfare measure, the government approved increasing the annual provision of sarees for Anganwadi workers and helpers from two to three per person. The revised arrangement is expected to benefit 3,80,290 workers and helpers across the state. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also announced after the meeting that the Cabinet had approved renaming Noida International Airport as Narendra Modi International Airport.
