On August 15, 2025, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath marked India’s 79th Independence Day by unfurling the national flag at the UP Vidhan Sabha in Lucknow and delivering a stirring address that celebrated the nation’s resilience and progress.
Highlighting the success of Operation Sindoor, launched 100 days earlier to dismantle terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack, Adityanath praised the Indian armed forces. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, Operation Sindoor showcased Bharat’s strength and power,” he said, saluting the brave soldiers who secured India’s unity under challenging conditions.
Adityanath emphasized the sacrifices of the armed forces, stating, “When our soldiers stand vigilant at the borders, we sleep peacefully, building a strong India.” He paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and freedom fighters, noting that India’s independence demands continued sacrifice and duty from its citizens. In a post on X, he called Independence Day a “sacred symbol” of India’s unbreakable spirit and urged citizens to unite for a just, equal, and self-reliant nation, aligning with the vision of ‘Ek Bharat-Shresth Bharat’ and ‘Viksit Bharat-Aatmanirbhar Bharat.’
The CM also highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s transformation, claiming the state, once seen as a barrier to national progress, has become a growth engine, contributing 9.2% to India’s GDP. He credited improved law and order, employment for 8.5 lakh youth, and support for 1.62 crore MSME workers. Adityanath promoted Swadeshi, urging citizens to gift locally crafted products to bolster rural economies, and announced the Mukhya Mantri Yuva Udyami Yojana to connect 10 lakh youths to employment, with a goal of 50 lakh jobs.
