A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Monday when a massive landslide, triggered by relentless heavy rains, struck a government primary school in the Bainch-Kalsain area. A colossal boulder crashed through the school’s tin roof, claiming the life of five-year-old Ehsan Ali, a local resident of Kalsa Bhainch. Four other students—Mohammad Safeer (7), Bilal Farooq (8), Aftab Ahmad (7), and Tobia Kausar (7)—along with a teacher, were injured in the disaster. The victims were rushed to a hospital in Poonch for treatment. This devastating incident underscores the dangers of extreme weather in the region, leaving a community in mourning and raising urgent concerns about school safety.
