A landslide struck the old track to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Reasi district, Jammu and Kashmir, injuring four pilgrims on Monday morning. Triggered by heavy rainfall in Katra, the base camp for the pilgrimage atop Trikuta hills, the incident occurred around 8:50 AM at Gulshan Ka Langar near Banganga, a key starting point for the yatra frequented by pony riders.
Rescue operations were swiftly launched, with emergency teams evacuating the four trapped pilgrims to a nearby hospital. The operation was ongoing as of the latest reports, with authorities working to ensure safety and clear debris. The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board is monitoring the situation closely.
