The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for several districts in West Bengal, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall over the coming days due to an active monsoon trough and a cyclonic circulation over central Bangladesh.
According to the latest IMD bulletin, sub-Himalayan districts including Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, and Cooch Behar are expected to receive heavy rainfall till August 12, with very heavy downpours likely on August 11. These weather conditions are attributed to a strong monsoon system currently affecting the eastern region.
In South Bengal, districts such as South 24 Parganas, Paschim Medinipur, Purulia, Bankura, and Purba Bardhaman are forecast to experience heavy showers until August 9.
