Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah disclosed on Friday that he has received threat calls and has directed the police to identify and act against the culprits.
Speaking to reporters in Mandya, he confirmed the threats while addressing queries about a reported threat call to Speaker U T Khader. “I too get threat calls. We’ve informed the police to find those responsible and take action,” Siddaramaiah said.
The CM also addressed the murder of rowdy-sheeter Suhas Shetty in Mangaluru, stating that he has instructed the police to apprehend the perpetrators swiftly.

“I’ve sent ADGP (Law and Order) to Mangaluru. The motive—whether preplanned or not—will be clear post-investigation,” he noted, dismissing BJP’s attempts to politicize the incident. Shetty, a history-sheeter linked to the 2022 Mohammad Fazil murder, was killed on Thursday, prompting heightened security in the communally sensitive region.
Siddaramaiah criticized the BJP over the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 people, questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s response.
“Wasn’t it a security lapse? I was told no police or security personnel were present where hundreds of tourists gather,” he said, highlighting the absence of security at the attack site.
The CM’s remarks come amid ongoing investigations into both the threat calls and Shetty’s murder, with police forming special teams to probe the latter. As tensions rise, Siddaramaiah urged a focus on justice over political point-scoring.
