Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin launched the ambitious ‘Nalam Kakkum Stalin’ health screening initiative on Saturday, urging doctors to view individuals seeking medical care as beneficiaries of health programs rather than mere patients. Speaking at the statewide launch in Chennai, Stalin emphasized that the initiative aims to enhance public health by delivering comprehensive and specialized screenings directly to communities, especially in rural areas.
“Doctors should see those visiting hospitals as beneficiaries of our health initiatives, not just patients,” Stalin said, highlighting the program’s goal of proactive healthcare. The ‘Nalam Kakkum Stalin’ campaign, named after the CM, focuses on early detection and prevention, ensuring medical services reach people at their doorsteps, bridging urban-rural healthcare gaps.
Reflecting on his own health scare last month, when he was briefly hospitalized for sudden giddiness during a morning walk, Stalin shared a personal insight. “Even in the hospital, I felt energized by serving people. I continued signing files and monitoring government programs despite advice to rest,” he said, adding, “Meeting people fuels my recovery and drives my commitment.” His hands-on approach from the hospital room underscored his dedication to public service.
