Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President of India C.P. Radhakrishnan administered the oath of office and secrecy to two newly elected members of the Upper House at the Parliament House on Wednesday. The newly inducted members included Mansoor Ali Khan from Karnataka and Rajnish Kumar Agrawal from Madhya Pradesh. With the completion of the oath-taking ceremony, both leaders have officially become eligible to participate in Rajya Sabha proceedings and carry out their parliamentary responsibilities.
Mansoor Ali Khan, representing the Congress party from Karnataka, took the oath in English, while Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member Rajnish Kumar Agrawal from Madhya Pradesh took the oath in Hindi. During the ceremony, both members pledged to discharge their duties with dedication and commitment. The event was attended by senior leaders, including Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Information & Broadcasting L. Murugan, Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh and senior officials from the Rajya Sabha Secretariat.
The swearing-in ceremony comes after the recently concluded Rajya Sabha elections, following which several newly elected and re-elected members assumed their positions in the Upper House. Earlier on June 29, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan had administered the oath of office and secrecy to seven newly elected and re-elected Rajya Sabha members from different states.
