Rajasthan is gearing up for intense rainfall, with several districts declaring school holidays on July 28 and 29 to ensure student safety. District collectors in Baran, Anta, Banswara, Kota, Dungarpur, Jhalawar, Bhilwara, Ajmer, Tonk, and Chittorgarh have issued orders to close schools as a precautionary measure.
On Sunday, a weakened low-pressure system, previously a depression over Madhya Pradesh, settled over north-central Rajasthan, triggering widespread rainfall. Areas like Pali, Chittorgarh, and Baran saw significant downpours, with Sadari in Pali experiencing road flooding after nearly two hours of heavy rain. Over the past 24 hours, districts including Kota, Udaipur, Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Jodhpur recorded heavy to very heavy rainfall, with Kushalgarh in Banswara logging the highest at 136 mm.
The Jaipur Meteorological Centre forecasts continued heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in Udaipur, Kota, and Bharatpur divisions on Monday, with isolated areas potentially facing severe downpours. Jaipur, Ajmer, and Jodhpur divisions are also expected to see heavy showers. The wet spell is likely to persist into July 29 and 30, affecting Bharatpur, Jaipur, and Ajmer divisions with heavy rainfall, while Bikaner may experience moderate to heavy rain in some areas.
