The investigation into the deadly explosion near the Red Fort Metro Station took a significant turn as authorities detained two individuals connected to the Hyundai i20 car involved in the blast. Gurugram Police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar disclosed that the vehicle changed hands multiple times before the incident, with the latest owner reportedly residing in Ambala.
Forensic experts from the Delhi Police, National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guard (NSG), and other specialized units are rigorously analyzing debris, CCTV footage, and digital evidence to pinpoint the cause and origin of the blast. The explosion occurred near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station on a busy Monday evening, igniting nearby vehicles and injuring numerous bystanders.
The tragedy elicited a wave of condolences and appeals for peace from prominent domestic and international figures. President Droupadi Murmu described the incident as “extremely distressing,”.as death toll hits 13. Political leaders including Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, CPI(M) General Secretary M.A. Baby, and several others urged calm and solidarity. Condolences were also extended by foreign missions, notably from Argentina and France. Bollywood actor Sonu Sood called for support and peace for the victims and their families.
