Union home minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25-year public life has been dedicated to the service of the nation and society, as he addressed the Seva Jyoti Yatra in Gurugram. The event was organised as part of the BJP’s month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, which is being held to mark 25 years of Modi’s public life and his journey in government. Shah said Modi’s leadership had brought about changes aimed at improving the lives of people across different sections of society, describing his political journey as one centred on service to the country and its people.
The national-level Seva Jyoti Yatra was held at Maharana Pratap Swarn Jayanti Udyan and was attended by Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini, Haryana BJP in-charge Smriti Irani, state BJP president Archana Gupta and Union minister Rao Inderjit Singh. The programme sought to highlight the themes of public service, development and welfare that form the central focus of the campaign. Shah’s remarks came on a significant day for the BJP, with Modi completing 25 years as the head of a government since he first took oath as Gujarat chief minister in 2001.
The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan began on September 17 and is scheduled to continue until October 17. The campaign aims to connect public participation with the broader vision of Viksit Bharat and encourage citizens to contribute to nation-building. The Seva Jyoti Yatra is being used to take the message of service and development to people, while also encouraging participation in activities linked to welfare and community initiatives. BJP leaders have sought to position the campaign as a broader public movement rather than an exercise limited to government programmes.

Archana Gupta said the campaign was intended to turn the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 into a people’s movement. She said public participation would be important in areas such as cleanliness, natural farming and water conservation. The emphasis on these activities is aimed at encouraging people to contribute to development goals through community-level initiatives. The campaign also seeks to link welfare activities with the larger objective of building a developed India by 2047.
As part of the campaign, the Haryana BJP has launched the Namo Seva Haryana portal to facilitate registration of volunteers for service-related activities. The party has also undertaken initiatives to facilitate cataract surgeries for needy patients and assist eligible beneficiaries in accessing government welfare schemes through the Seva Setu initiative. These programmes are intended to provide direct assistance to people while expanding participation in the campaign’s service activities. The initiatives also form part of the BJP’s effort to highlight welfare and community service alongside its broader development agenda.
The Gurugram programme was held amid elaborate security and traffic arrangements for Shah’s visit. Authorities coordinated the movement of participants, parking facilities, entry and exit arrangements at the venue and security along the yatra route. A district-wide ban on drones, paragliders and other unmanned aerial or flying objects was also imposed on Wednesday as a security measure. The event marked another major programme under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan as the BJP continued its month-long campaign around Modi’s 25-year journey in public life.
