A Delhi Police sub-inspector has been widely praised after he prevented a man from dying by suicide on the Mahipalpur flyover, in a dramatic rescue that combined calm communication, tactical awareness, and swift physical intervention. According to police officials, the incident took place after the Police Control Room (PCR) received an emergency alert about a man standing dangerously close to the edge of the flyover. Responding without delay, a team led by Sub-Inspector Anil Sharma reached the location and found the individual in an extremely distressed state, appearing ready to jump onto the road below.

Officials said the situation was highly sensitive, requiring careful handling to avoid provoking panic or sudden movement. SI Sharma immediately assumed a negotiation posture, following standard crisis intervention protocols used in suicide prevention cases. In a video that later circulated widely on social media, Sharma can be seen carefully continuing the dialogue, maintaining composure while assessing the right moment to act.
