Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the "Nasha Mukta Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyaan" on Sunday through video conferencing, marking the beginning of a nationwide campaign aimed at mobilising young people against drug abuse. The initiative seeks to transform the fight against substance abuse into a Jan Bhagidari (people's participation) movement, encouraging youth to play an active role in building a drug-free India while contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
According to an official statement, the campaign will be led by MY Bharat youth volunteers and is designed to inspire young citizens to become ambassadors of positive social change within their communities. During the launch event, Prime Minister Modi is expected to call upon the country's youth to actively participate in efforts to eliminate drug abuse and promote healthier lifestyles. The campaign aims to strengthen public awareness while fostering collective responsibility in tackling the issue of substance abuse.
As part of the nationwide rollout, activities will be organised simultaneously at nearly 10,000 locations across India immediately after the Prime Minister's address. More than one crore (10 million) young people are expected to participate by taking a national pledge against drug abuse. The government hopes the large-scale participation will reinforce its ongoing efforts to create a sustained grassroots movement in support of a drug-free society.

The campaign will continue through weekly programmes held every Sunday across the country. Planned activities include sports events, walkathons, meditation sessions, cultural programmes, awareness drives, street plays (nukkad nataks), discussion forums, art competitions and various community engagement initiatives. Organisers said these activities are intended to promote awareness, encourage public participation and inspire behavioural change among young people and local communities.
Volunteers and organisations making notable contributions to the campaign will be recognised during the 50th, 75th and 100th week milestones. According to the government, the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Modi's vision of a "Nasha Mukt Bharat", with the central message that "drug-free youth are the greatest strength of Viksit Bharat." Through sustained public participation and youth engagement, the campaign aims to strengthen the national resolve to build a healthier, drug-free society while advancing the broader goal of transforming India into a developed nation by 2047.
